Collection: Dino Garcia
Gilbert "Dino" Garcia, born in 1969, is a distinguished silversmith from the Santo Domingo Pueblo. He learned the art of tufa mold carving and silver casting from his grandfather, Leo Coriz, who was mentored by the renowned Hopi artist Charles Loloma. After attending an Indian boarding school in Oklahoma during his teenage years, Dino moved to California, where he worked for defense contractors in the Los Angeles area. Around 2000, he returned to the Santo Domingo Pueblo to pursue silversmithing full-time. His work is characterized by intricate tufa cast designs, reflecting a deep respect for traditional techniques while incorporating contemporary elements.
